DR inner plaza and meeting areas
Multi functional atrium space for Danish Radio Broadcasting
THE CLIENT BRIEF
A six floors inner atrium were to be re-imagined and integrated as a buzzing center of activities. Furthermore the empty northern end of the space, were to be used as a café.
OUR SOLUTION
By creating the so-called ‘meeting garden’ in the six floor atrium, we managed to integrate this open space as a natural center for the office area. The concept enables meetings in the various meeting zones, with no risk of disturbing or being disturbed by others.
We designed bespoke elements, for the various types of meetings: Alcove tables and sofa alcoves, that shut out the surroundings, when on the phone or talk, for 2-8 persons. Meeting cabins for intimate conversations or undisturbed working. Bar height tables for lunch meetings in smaller or large groups. A long meeting table, surrounded by screen dividers serving as whiteboards and acoustic elements.
The outer shells of the sofa modules are clad in denim, a material with fine acoustic qualities and an informal look. The coral red buttons and brackets add some dynamic and reference the red architectural elements. All bespoke furniture is playing with the hexagon shape, to create a visual theme and context, also when seen from the six floors above.
The café in the DR Byen inner plaza is situated in the nortern end of the building, an area that often used to be empty during the daytime. Placing the café here, is intentional, and meant to create some life. The interior concept is based on the vision of cosy lounge for newspaper reading, book sharing and informal chatting. The colour and fabric concept takes it’s cue from the red architectural elements again, and uses a variety of qualities.
